How These 3 Writers Penned Narratively Memoir-Prize Winning Essays
Join us for a very special Open Book live conversation to learn how our last three Memoir Prize winners approached their storytelling process—and get some tips on writing your own prize-winning essay!
Thinking about submitting to the 2025 Narratively Memoir Prize and want to make sure you put your best foot forward? This year we want to offer Narratively Academy readers some extra insight into what makes a story submission stand out, so we figured: Who better to ask than the writers whose stories have won our prize in the past? We’re excited for a very special Open Book live video conversation this week with the past three winners of the Narratively Memoir Prize: Lisa Williamson Rosenberg, Laura Green-Russell and Christopher Blackwell.
Lisa, Laura and Christopher will join us this Friday, November 7, at 3 p.m. ET. They’ll chat with Narratively executive editor Jesse Sposato about their writing process and how they finished their stories. They (and Jesse) will answer any questions you have about writing compelling personal essays and submitting to the Memoir Prize.
This live event is free and open to all. Please RSVP to attend.

P.S.: If you haven’t had a chance to read these three fantastic stories yet, we’re offering an extra treat ahead of Friday’s call: For the rest of this week, we’re putting all three of these prize-winning stories in front of the paywall for all to read. Check ’em out now!
