How to Juggle Multiple Creative Projects at Once
Ready to do it all in 2026? (Or at least, like, more than one thing?) Join us this Thursday for a live chat about how to make it happen.
I loooove all the new year energy creatives start to feel in January when we resolve to buckle down and get those big projects done. When I think about the year ahead, I always wonder how many things I can actually get done. Like many of you, I have so many things I want to write—a book, a play, a TV series, a bunch of articles—and I’m often torn between the need to focus on one thing at a time and the desire to do it all.
One person who does not wince at the thought of trying to do it all is the incredible Caroline Rothstein. A creator who gives new meaning to the phrase “multi-hyphenate,” Caroline is an internationally touring writer, poet, performer, educator, documentary filmmaker and producer (and Narratively Academy instructor!). She is currently co-writing a musical about elder millennials and technology, co-authoring a romance novel, and developing her second autobiographical one-woman play, among several other writing, poetry, performance, audio and film projects.
I have one burning question for Caroline: how the #$*!&@ do you do it all? And I’m gonna ask her just that when I chat with Caroline this Thursday, January 8 at 1pm ET. I hope you’ll join us on Substack Live!
Speaking of doing it all, we have a bunch more happenings on tap for you this week!
Tonight at 7pm ET is our very first seminar of the year, Kern Carter’s Telling Your Story: The 90-Minute Seminar for Kickstarting Your Memoir. If you’ve been thinking about penning your life story in 2026, Kern’s inspiring approach will have you ready to bare your soul on the page — whatever your background and experience level. There are just a few seats left so sign up now if you’d like to join.
Kern is also one of the instructors for our 2026 Narratively Book Incubator, which is filling up fast. On Wednesday, January 7 at 1pm ET we’re hosting a Meet the Mentors info session with Kern, Audrey Clare Farley, and Claire Rudy Foster. Each of these instructors will speak a little about their writing and teaching styles, and we’ll have time for interested writers to ask questions about how the book incubator will work. We’ll also record this session and share it with everyone who RSVPs here.
Last but not least, the new year means Writers’ Room is back in action!
Writers’ Room is a virtual space to write alongside other writers, share what you’re working on, get inspiration, and be held accountable. Join us every Wednesday morning from 8-9 a.m. ET or 8-9 a.m. PT). You can choose to join whichever time works better for you — or even for both. If your resolution is to make sure you have time to write every single week, go ahead and add Writers’ Room to your cal right now.
