Join Our First Community Critique This Week
Ever wonder how writers and editors collaborate to take a story draft from first draft to publication-ready? Our fun new initiative gives you an up-close look at how it all works.
One of our main goals with Narratively Academy is to lift the veil on the editorial process and show everyone how the nitty-gritty of the draft-to-publication process really works. Via Narratively Critiques, our editorial team works with writers who sign up to get tough, honest, in-depth and actionable feedback about how their drafts can be improved. We recently announced our first Community Critique, where one writer will get a completely free critique and we’ll do the whole process publicly, so that others in our writer community can see how it all works.
Thanks so much to everyone who submitted a story for our first free Community Critique. The story draft we’ve chosen is by Martha Bonnie and we’re going to do the critique on a live call this Thursday, October 23 at 3pm ET. Martha has submitted a fantastic draft and (spoiler alert) I have lots of ideas about how it can be improved.
Anyone who is a paid member of Narratively Academy is invited to read Martha’s draft, see my edits and feedback, and join our live video call where we’ll discuss how her piece might be improved (or watch the recording). You’re also invited to weigh in with your own thoughts, then read the edited draft after Martha incorporates our notes. For anyone who’s interested to see how a story goes from first draft to publish-ready, this is a great opportunity to come along for the ride.
If you’re already a paid Narratively Academy member, just click below to read Martha’s story draft and get the link to join us live on Thursday.
If you’re not a paid member yet, sign up and join us!
