Last Call to Join "Memoir vs. Autofiction"
You have a story to tell. But is it a memoir? A novel? Something in between?
Good morning, writers! It’s finally Friday, so it’s time to hop over to the Narratively Academy chat and share your #weeklywin to celebrate writing successes, large or small. And don’t forget to join us over at Narratively.com at 1pm ET today for a special live chat with the author and subject of our story “A Kidnapped Child of the 1980s, All Grown Up.”
One of the most common thing we hear from writers is: I know I have a book in me, but I don’t know if it’s a memoir or fiction…or maybe somewhere in between. If that’s you, you’re going to want to check out our class that starts on Monday. Instructor Rebecca van Laer is a novelist and memoirist, and in Memoir vs. Autofiction: Situating Your First-Person Story she’ll lead writers in exploring the worlds of memoir (a story that’s strictly true) and autofiction (a story that draws on your own life but expands to include fictional elements), helping you decide which direction your story wants to go.
This 5-week workshop class starts this Monday, September 29 and as of right now there are 4 seats left, so grab one ASAP if you want to join!
PS: Interested in joining but can’t afford the full price? We are happy to offer sliding scale, income-based full and partial scholarships, which you can apply for here.
