Unsure if your story wants to be a braided essay, a spiral, or something else? In this intimate class, we'll explore a few nontraditional story structures and zero in on which one is right for you.
One thing I’ve learned about writers over the years is that most of ya’ll loooooove experimenting with structure. Personally, I’m a pretty big fan of the traditional narrative arc (I love me some concrete beginnings, middles and ends). But sometimes just keeping things straightforward doesn’t do a story justice. So it’s no surprise that a lot of you have requested we add a class on braided essays and other alternative narrative structures. I’m thrilled to announce that next month
will be leading a brand new Advanced Craft Workshop on Finding Your Structure.In the first day of this intimate two-part workshop (with room for just 10 students), writers will explore the structures for several classic and contemporary essays and nonfiction books, and learn how each of those structures adds to the piece as a whole.
