Back by Popular Demand! Finding Your Structure
Unsure if your story wants to be a braided essay, a spiral, or something else? In this intimate class, we’ll explore nontraditional story structures and zero in on which one is right for you.
Wow, y’all are really into structure, huh? The first edition of our brand-new advanced craft workshop, Finding Your Structure, sold out faster than any other Narratively Academy class to date. Luckily, we’ve managed to cajole
into teaching a second section of this class next month. We’ve scheduled this one for 11 a.m. ET on two Saturdays — in part because we had several requests from European folks for a time that could also work there. (Doable for West Coast early risers, too!)On the first day of this intimate two-part workshop, writers explore the structures for several notable essays and nonfiction books. In the second part, each student will consider the particular story they are trying to tell and complete writing exercises focused on revising your work to understand how specific structural changes can improve your story. By the end, you’ll know whether your essay, article, memoir or book wants to be a braided narrative, a spiral structure or something totally different.
Class starts on Saturday, December 6, and registration is open now — be sure to grab a spot quickly if you’d like to join this one, as this class is limited to just 10 students.
