Reminder: Last Chance to Submit for our First "Community Critique"
One writer will get their personal essay draft workshopped by Narratively's editor and our vibrant writer community.
Hey, writers! Just a reminder that the next episode of our Open Book live video series is tonight, with Creative Nonfiction Founder Lee Gutkind interviewing award-winning journalist Jeanne Marie Laskas about how she immerses herself in unfamiliar territory and finds compelling human stories. Jeanne Marie is the author of eight books, including the bestseller Concussion, the basis for the Golden Globe-nominated film starring Will Smith. She’s also a contributing writing for The New York Times Magazine, a correspondent at GQ, and a two-time National Magazine Award finalist. Her stories appear in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, and Esquire. More recently, she is the host and co-writer of the podcast series CEMENT CITY, named one of the top ten “Best Podcasts of 2024” by The New York Times.
This conversation will be held live on Zoom on Monday, September 8 at 6pm ET.
UPDATE: We’ll share a recording of this live event later this week.
PS: Tomorrow, September 9, is the last chance to submit a draft of a personal essay for a free critique from Narratively Editorial Director Brendan Spiegel. Click here for more on what the Community Critique is all about.
