Congrats to Writer Anne Glaser on Landing an Essay in "Modern Love!"
A veteran of many Narratively Academy classes, Anne just made her debut in this much sought-after New York Times column with her fabulous piece, "The Sexting Seniors of Assisted Living."
Whenever I work with a writer on developing a personal essay, more often than not their dream placement is in The New York Times’ Modern Love column. It’s easy to see why. These moving pieces attract a huge readership, tons of comments, and have even spawned a hit podcast and a TV show. It’s also very hard to get a piece in Modern Love, as so many people pitch this column.
Earlier this year, I worked with
, who submitted a draft of a personal essay for a Narratively Critique. We worked on a couple rounds of edits, then I encouraged Anne to go for it and pitch it to her dream placement, which was Modern Love. Earlier this month, Anne found out that the editor of Modern Love wanted to run her story! After a career practicing law in Chicago, Anne began taking writing classes a few years back and fell in love with the personal essay. She also happens to be the one writer who has taken more Narratively Academy classes than any other person, which I’d like to think played a small role in her success here :)
Congrats, Anne! Here’s a paywall-free gift link to read Anne’s Modern Love essay, The Sexting Seniors of Assisted Living. (Or pick up a copy of the Sunday NYT to read it in print!)

What’s you #WeeklyWin? It doesn’t have to be as big as Anne’s! If you submitted a story this week, made progress on your manuscript, or had a tiny writing breakthrough, head over to the Narratively Academy chat to shout your success.
