Don't Miss Our Flash Essay + Art Contest!
Tell us about a small moment from your week—and add a quick sketch, photo, or other artistic embellishment—for a chance to have your story published on Narratively.
Last week as part of our Open Book video series,
hosted a very inspiring conversation with writer and artist about the benefits of incorporating sketching and drawing into your journaling practice, and how to nurture you creative self, especially after years of blocks. We were so jazzed up by Nupu’s ideas about bringing art and writing together that we decided to host a little flash writing + art contest. In case you missed it in the original post, here’s the fun and simple prompt:Pick a small moment from this week that you might forget otherwise. Write up to 500 words about it and include a drawing, photograph, or collage. The writing doesn’t have to be polished and neither does the artwork—just go for it!
Nupu will help us choose a winning story, which will be published on Narratively.com! For inspiration, check out the winner of our last flash essay contest this summer, then click below to submit.
Submissions are due by tomorrow—Thursday, October 9. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
And in case you haven’t had a chance to watch Abeer’s conversation with Nupu yet, we’re making that post free for the rest of the week.
Nupu Press on Blending Art Into Your Writing Practice
