This Week: How to Get a Book Deal Without an Agent + More
Fresh off their AWP chat on the same subject, authors Bonnie Chau and Kristi D. Osorio join us to talk about how they managed to get book contracts without having agents, and how you can, too.
There is a lot of chatter about agents in the literary world. How to find the right one, whose queries are open when, what you need to submit and how many peers should read it before you do… But what about cutting out that middle step altogether? Authors Bonnie Chau and Kristi D. Osorio will join us this Friday, March 20, at 1 p.m. ET, to reprise the conversation they had at this year’s AWP on the same subject: how to get a book contract without an agent. They’ll talk about their own experiences working in two different genres, plus offer any advice they’ve gathered around this, share what they might do differently today (if anything) and more. We’d love for you to join us! As always, come with questions if you have them.
Our live sessions are free to all — to receive a recording, and view our entire archive of live videos, become a paid subscriber today. And to make sure you never miss an Open Book, add this entire series to your calendar.
A reminder, too, that we’ve got Writers’ Room this Wednesday morning!
If you’re new to it, at the midpoint of each week, members of our community meet up to share a virtual space and write together. Writers’ Room is held at both at 8 a.m. ET and again at 8 a.m. PT every Wednesday. You can choose to join whichever time works better for you — or even for both.
Click this Zoom link to join us for either session on Wednesday.

We hope to see you at one or both of these happenings this week!
